Game Closure.

Dead Weight is closing.

As the game is in it's fledgling stages, we believe that it would be better to close it now than to continue to struggle along. We were unprepared to open it when we did which lead to a shaky start, and issues within our personal lives have interfered with our ability to dedicate the time needed to modding. For these things we sincerely apologize, to both the players who joined and the players who were looking forward to joining.

But at this time, it's simply not feasible for either of us to maintain a game.

We will not be handing the communities over as they are linked to one of the mods personal emails and dreamwidth discourages account trading, but we encourage players interested in creating a zombie/survival horror game to get together and fill that void in DWRP. You're free to use and improve upon the ideas and information that we provided. Players are free to continue to use the communities until something else has been set up, and posts on the communities will remain there.

If I have your encouragement and good graces, I would be more than happy to continue it with anyone who's interested in trying to keep the magic going. You guys came up with an amazing premise; it's a shame that RL bit you in the ass, but thank you for bringing it to us while you could. DW needs the pitter-patter of undead feet.

i really don't have the time to help w/ modding or setting a game up, but i would definitely be interested in following a new game over, if it happens! deadweight was basically everything i've ever wanted in a premise, HAHA.

For that matter I'm set on making this sassy rich CR, happen. It might take another few weeks to get the game back up and running, but here's a post for the other players to come in and discuss their ideas. Feel free to step in with anything you've got.

I'm Australian, sob! Right now my hours are all over the place but my regular schedule is to wake up about 4/5pm New York time/EST and check my email/plurk for a few hours hours, then go off to spend my afternoon doing RL stuff, and then I sit down to get all my tags after dinner at about 6am New York time/EST ... until I go to bed!

i'm sorry to see the game close so soon; it was a really awesome premise and you guys set something really cool up.

one thing, though: since it sounds like you guys are open to handing over the info and ideas and it's just the personal email thing you're concerned about, i wanted to mention that DW only discourages account trading of personal accounts, not communities. handing over the admin of a comm is totally okay (as per their FAQ here) and once you change the email and remove yourself as an admin, the email won't be linked to the comm account anymore.

I'm sad to see the place go. It's generous to offer the information over so the game can continue on, but I don't really understand the logic of turning over the written work and not the comm itself. Once the game shuts down, the name Deadweight will be known as "that game the mods opened for a month and then closed without warning". If you plan on using the comm name again in the future, people might have reservations about apping because it'll have that stigma attached to it. These are just some thoughts on the matter.
