First order of business: telling you guys that you're awesome. Every single one of you. I wasn't expecting to see this much encouragement and interest in keeping the game afloat when I went to bed last night, and then my inbox exploded and so did my mind. So give yourself a big hug, right now. You deserve it.
So here's what's going on: I sat down with Shikki, and she gave us permission to keep any aspect of the premise that we wish to expand upon in the future game. From what I've heard across the board, most of you enjoyed the basic premise of Deadweight: that a zombie apocalypse has overtaken the real world, and fictional characters are being brought out of their original medium to help set things on an orderly course. However, apart from that, there are many details that need to be worked out before we get back to our pretend-y fun times. Reserves were supposed to open tonight for the second batch of characters, but at this point, it seems like the best thing to do is shut things down until we've brainstormed future events, expanded on the plot/world mechanics/where the hell this is going, and revamped the new communities so there's a solid base for the future.
I'm not going to lie, this might take a few weeks to get everything under control. But Yami was kind enough to make a preemptive new comm for us, right over
here. So when the game does restart, chances are that's going to be the one we're going to use.
In the meantime, I want to take a moment to open up the floor to the players--because we all have feelings about zombies, and we all have feelings about zombie games. What do you want to see from a zombie game? What are some things you
don't want to see us do? What do you think we can do to keep this community interesting?
Here are some topics that came up on Plurk:
Restarting the game and throwing the characters right into the shit: Exactly what it says on the tin. A zombie attack right from the get-go to get your character properly situated in the "real world." Just to start things off with a bang.
Power cap: Is this something that we should carry over to the next game, or lose?
Game canon: We can import information to the new comm if you want to keep your old threads. Or would you rather just start fresh? For that matter, should we re-open apps?
More NPC's: One of the major strengths of anything dealing with a zombie apocalypse is the crazies: that one guy that keeps his undead eight year-old daughter chained to a chair/shack outside and feeds her unsuspecting survivors, and other choice reactions. Other people have mentioned the concept of intermittent ghost radio calls to keep playable characters on their toes.
Mod Team: Many people came forward and offered to help out in any way that they could--did I mention how much I love you for that, by the way? A few of you also expressed interest in
assembling becoming co-mods, and I'd like to go over some things with you. I think we're already friends on Plurk, but in case I missed you (or if there's anyone else that wants a quick way to get in contact with me!) you can buzz me @
magyums or on AIM.
Sorry this is coming to you a little late, but I'm happy to listen and help out with whatever I can can! o/
