Thank you guys so much for your comments and extensive feedback in the last discussion post. It helps the mods immensely knowing what you want to see most from your zombie game.

We understand how confusing things must be right now, considering that for the most part, we're still floating between the end of the original game and the new mods trying to pull things together. Allow me to reiterate that the game still needs a lot of time and work before it reopens, given the amount of world building and plotting we have to do to ensure that things will run more smoothly in the future.

The basic premise will stay the same (fictional characters are pulled into the "real world," where they'll have to survive a zombie apocalypse), as well as some other aspects. In addition to that, we're hoping to add new twists and turns that will make the game even more exciting and fun to be a part of.

In regards to where the actual game play will be taking place, the mod team and I have talked this over in the last couple weeks, wagering in the additional player feedback we've received, and we've decided that the best course of action is to move things over to the community that Yami created. That way, the game can have a fresh start when it reopens to the public.

So pack up your things and name your pioneers. We're heading out on the Oregon Dreamwidth Trail. I've already taken the liberty of making the rest of the communities, and here are the links:

Main Community

OOC Community

Logs Community

Mod Journal

Don't worry about your contact information or the taken character page: since I have administrative rights to the Deadweight communities, I can go ahead and transfer all that data for you. What you can do is friend the new communities, so we can continue the game updates from there.

The Syndemic mod contact page will soon be updated as well, and we fully encourage you to contact us with any further questions!

First order of business: telling you guys that you're awesome. Every single one of you. I wasn't expecting to see this much encouragement and interest in keeping the game afloat when I went to bed last night, and then my inbox exploded and so did my mind. So give yourself a big hug, right now. You deserve it.

So here's what's going on: I sat down with Shikki, and she gave us permission to keep any aspect of the premise that we wish to expand upon in the future game. From what I've heard across the board, most of you enjoyed the basic premise of Deadweight: that a zombie apocalypse has overtaken the real world, and fictional characters are being brought out of their original medium to help set things on an orderly course. However, apart from that, there are many details that need to be worked out before we get back to our pretend-y fun times. Reserves were supposed to open tonight for the second batch of characters, but at this point, it seems like the best thing to do is shut things down until we've brainstormed future events, expanded on the plot/world mechanics/where the hell this is going, and revamped the new communities so there's a solid base for the future.

I'm not going to lie, this might take a few weeks to get everything under control. But Yami was kind enough to make a preemptive new comm for us, right over here. So when the game does restart, chances are that's going to be the one we're going to use.

In the meantime, I want to take a moment to open up the floor to the players--because we all have feelings about zombies, and we all have feelings about zombie games. What do you want to see from a zombie game? What are some things you don't want to see us do? What do you think we can do to keep this community interesting?

Here are some topics that came up on Plurk:

Restarting the game and throwing the characters right into the shit: Exactly what it says on the tin. A zombie attack right from the get-go to get your character properly situated in the "real world." Just to start things off with a bang.

Power cap: Is this something that we should carry over to the next game, or lose?

Game canon: We can import information to the new comm if you want to keep your old threads. Or would you rather just start fresh? For that matter, should we re-open apps?

More NPC's: One of the major strengths of anything dealing with a zombie apocalypse is the crazies: that one guy that keeps his undead eight year-old daughter chained to a chair/shack outside and feeds her unsuspecting survivors, and other choice reactions. Other people have mentioned the concept of intermittent ghost radio calls to keep playable characters on their toes.

Mod Team: Many people came forward and offered to help out in any way that they could--did I mention how much I love you for that, by the way? A few of you also expressed interest in assembling becoming co-mods, and I'd like to go over some things with you. I think we're already friends on Plurk, but in case I missed you (or if there's anyone else that wants a quick way to get in contact with me!) you can buzz me @ [plurk.com profile] magyums or on AIM.

Sorry this is coming to you a little late, but I'm happy to listen and help out with whatever I can can! o/

Dead Weight is closing.

As the game is in it's fledgling stages, we believe that it would be better to close it now than to continue to struggle along. We were unprepared to open it when we did which lead to a shaky start, and issues within our personal lives have interfered with our ability to dedicate the time needed to modding. For these things we sincerely apologize, to both the players who joined and the players who were looking forward to joining.

But at this time, it's simply not feasible for either of us to maintain a game.

We will not be handing the communities over as they are linked to one of the mods personal emails and dreamwidth discourages account trading, but we encourage players interested in creating a zombie/survival horror game to get together and fill that void in DWRP. You're free to use and improve upon the ideas and information that we provided. Players are free to continue to use the communities until something else has been set up, and posts on the communities will remain there.

We wish you all the best of luck.

Hello dear Zombie murderers, it is I, Hatter and I have brought to you this asshole. Loki Laufeyson, main villain from both Thor and The Avengers; he's post film and going to be exceedingly unhappy about being here, lacking most of his magic and finding the undead have crawled from the depths of Hel. He's an adept fighter and has been equipped with a War Hammer which he will be non too pleased about.

Anyway, you can plurkfriend me at [plurk.com profile] adoxography_tea  or what not. He'll be around to cause trouble and what not.

I'm up for plot or whatever... And trolling.

What's up? I'm Yami and I'll be bringing in Nick Fury for Marvel's 616 Universe, or the mainstream comics continuity. For those unfamiliar, he's the worlds most prominent super-spy turned international terrorist with a heart of gold and is coming at you guys from just at the end of the Secret Warriors series by Jonathan Hickman.

Um um. What else.

Oh, you can reach me on plurk at [plurk.com profile] undeadyami, or via Nick's IC contact post which is here.

And, um, I think that's all I got. Hi.

Howdy erryone!

I'm Hatter, and I am bringing you Charles Francis Xavier, future leader of the X-Men and currently a occasionally drunken skirt-chasing lush. He's taken from just before he's crippled since while I do love wheelchair Charles, being pretty small, having no real powers and in a wheelchair seemed a little harsh and hard to keep active with.

All he has is a stick and some awesome hair. He might not be the best fighter but he's got the talents to be an excellent leader and strategist.

Anyway I suck so hard at intros I'm just gonna hoover my way out of here. You can add me on plurk @ [plurk.com profile] adoxography_tea or AIM @ butwedonot (I'm so creative with names,  I know, lmfao).

Anyway look forward to murdering zombies with the lot of you. Or running form them. Y E P.

Hello, my name is Jen and I suck at ooc intros 8| Have a gif.

So, I'm bringing this precious little bundle of joy, Thor Odinson from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s the one who likes smashing all your cups and asking your local pet shop owner to let him ride into battle on a kitten. Normally he's a 6'4" tank of an immortal (sort of), but here he's going to be nice and squishy and human and pretty bummed about that.

Yes. Okay. I can be reached at [plurk.com profile] Wuzzafuzzle or on AIM at the same s/n. :3 Yes good.

you can find me on [plurk.com profile] eppypeninc if you like, elsewise catching me on this journal or in his ic contact will totally get my attentions if you desire them.

9th-Jul-2012 04:49 am - why hello there
affective: (Default)
cough, add myself to the list of late introductions. :(

ANY HELLO! my name is abi, and i'll be bringing you eames here from inception. for anyone unfamiliar with the canon he's basically a big fat liar, except in your mind, but he's really a big fat liar irl too, so that's. basically it. he's prone to having crises of reality and he's not sure he appreciates being told he's a fictional character, but he has to admit that he looks like a handsome devil in all the bits of the movie he got to see. COULD'VE BEEN WORSE.

i was very much looking forward to this game, and i'm really excited to play with you guys! o/ it's kind of late for me to tag into the intro log without feeling super awkward about it though. if anyone would like to run into eames at the beginning and you don't mind some backthreading let me know, otherwise i think the mods mentioned that there'd be another open log once apps closed? i'll tag around then.

anyway you can contact me via pming this journal or through plurk at [plurk.com profile] dragonpunch for plotting or chatting or shenanigans. please feel free! i do enjoy shenanigans . . .

hello! nadya here, with Sherlock Holmes, from BBC Sherlock. He's post Reichenbach Fall, and generally, he's still a bit new to me. This is a painfully delayed intro, but anyway. Zombie game! This is exciting.

I'm on plurk as [plurk.com profile] lexi_ if any of you want to add me; or just pm me whenever. And I'll be setting up and HMD post soon and whatnot. I do know a few of you though! c: Well, I look forward to playing with you all!
